Do coil springs wear out / sag

Rebuilding an 84 camaro, stock V8 chassis with 190k on it.

Upgrading the whole car and it seems to sit low compared to others i have seen. I don't have the history on mine so i have no idea what POs might have done to it.

Since i have the front suspension apart for new everything (poly bushings, struts, upgrades sway bar, etc) I was thinking of new springs - a book i got on Camaro upgrades says 'springs don't wear out' - i don't believe it.

I know there are specs somewhere (i have the factory manual - a portuguese phone book is easier to read:rolleyes: ) so i could check, but was wondering what the folks here might think/know about such things as sag.

Yes springs do settle and loose the ride height......Replace em

If the car is left outside and not driven in the winter the weight of the snow will compress the springs and hold them down till the snow melts. They lose a little height each year. If you put a car up on blocks for the winter put the blocks under the frame not the suspension.

It is technically my buddy's car. I prefer cars/trucks with FRAMES (79 lincoln conti, 90 Jeep wrangler) Even the wife's minivan pretends to have a frame

SO if i plow and pile all my driveway snow on a given car, by spring i'll have a free lowrider? :whacked: :LOL:

I noticed that my Mercedes sits a little lower after it had about 3-4 foot of snow sitting on it with an inch of ice under that and the head and everything in the trunk ( bout 100 lbs togther ), but I had fun with that this summer too, when I had the '51 at my grandparents and I coulden't go down, I took the mercedes interior apart and put it back togther for fun ( still ain't put the glovebox back in yet though ), I also rotated all the tires for the heck of it and then I put some 15" 5 lug ford rims on the rear ( the mercedes lug nuts screw into the hub ( no studs ) so even though the bolt pattern was a little diffrent, they did fit cause of the lug setup, the car still sits like that with the wider 15" in the rear. I also had to dismantle the power antenne cause my dad wanted it for an auto pilot for our boat ( he's building 1 ) and he needed the motor and it was broken ne way, all the bands were shot and there were no arms cause they broke off. I'm still gonna put a American V6 in it in a year or 2 cause it's too nice to junk and 2 nice to let sit, I'm gonna finish the '51 first though.

Oh yeah, I cleaned the snow and ice off the benz about mid winter so I could see a car and not just a pile of snow
( and I was concerened about the ice underneath sliding and breaking off the hood ornament )
