need help i.d front suspension

:confused: this forum looks like a good shot at helping me i.d. a IFS on a street rod I just got. it is u/l control arms-look like a cast steel,not stamped. torsion bar ,shocks located & attached to front of lower a-arm,spindles almost staight up & down, ball joints top & bottom,disc brakes are datsun(i believe)with pistons on both sides of caliper.solid rotor.has rack & pinion steering(rear steer) that looks like it is right for susp setup. the a-arms have a pretty wide spacing on them between the attaching bolts. this setup looks to me like 70's,1980 vintage. brake master cylinder setup is also datsun. I thought maybe datsun truck-- i f anyone has a hint please advise. I can get measurements or try to give better describtion if I know what/where to look for. previous owner does not/will not tellme ,got car thru 2nd party, both where major dicks.TIA

Cast arms and torsion bars, built in the '70's means good likelyhood it's Jag. Brakes say Girling or Dunlop? As the man says, picture worth a K.

yeah he probably didnt know, even if he did he would' nt tell me, I don't know what it is,I never saw this setup in my travels. I was hoping to get new ball joints for it but I gotta figure out what it is first. parts stores around here don't like playing "guess what this doohickey is & do you have 2 of 'em?" one of my favorite games 35 years ago when the parts counter guy could tell what you had when it was still in the box...they're all gone now (unfortuneately) I'll check back here daily for next installment of "What's My Suspension!"

:cool: well I thought this forum would be helpful. now I know where to go for ball joints for this thing. how well do jag fronts hold up in this kind of installation/use? I know that this is old school but if it works & won't kill me quick ,I'll stick with it for now.this is first foray into street rod,so I'll be back here I'm sure. thanks agin for help & info

this past sat I was at cruise where I came across a 64 Jag xke. I asked owner to open up hood & there perched on top of upper control arm was the style ball joint I am trying to find/replace on the WoodPile. So I think we can make this thing driveable & steerable after all, but I may replace steering column first, not sure. I have a couple GM's; one from 79 g body malibu wgn tilt, 82 tilt column from Phoenix SJ, & in a day or so a 86 suburban tilt(soon as I cut the truck apart-saving engine/tranny & now column) the quest continues..... any one of these columns preferable over the others?parts a rama is this weekend so I can find a better choice(maybe):rolleyes:
