Rear Coilover Adjustment
I've put my rear coilover back together, matching the pre-load on the other unit that was not taken apart. There's one stepped nut that pre-loads the spring, and a second flat spanner nut that locks the pre-load nut. I have a spanner, but to get the lock-nut tight it appears that I need two, holding the top nut with one while tightening the bottom nut snug. Am I overlooking something? Is there an easy way to lock the nuts with one spanner?

I used a big pair of channel lock pliers to hold the jam nut. Doesn't take much effort to secure them.

I find it usually works to go a tad tight with the spring nut and spin the locking nut up tight as I can. Then back off the spring nut down to the lock nut. The lock nut usually wont move back down for some reason... Worth a shot? If that doesn't work maybe a hose clamp around the body of the shock just below the lock nut and back everything down til its tight?

Mike's channel lock method worked fine - opened them up to grab across a couple of the notches, and it was easy to hold while bringing the spring nut down to interference fit. Having never adjusted them I was a bit leery of scratching up the nuts and having to look at them that way forever... Thanks, guys.
