If you're set on switching to a typical disc brake kit you'll need to switch to '37-'41 spindles, or '42-48 (will probably need a different kit bracket since the first is round back, the latter are square). The king pin dimensions are compatible with the stock axle, and new pins and bushings would be a smart refurbishment while it's apart. If you get stock Ford pieces that haven't been modified the steering arms will be the same as the stock '36. The aftermarket repops of the '37-41 don't have steering arms so those would need to be acquired also. Make sure you get forged ones if you go repop, not just cast cheapies.

When you say 'wide bolt pattern wheels' do you mean wide 5 hubs? With the bolts way outside like a volkswagen?
Wide5 was from '37 to 39? and were the transition hubs from mechanical brakes to hydraulic. You might have '37 spindles, are they round where the backing plate bolts up?
Are your hubs 2 piece? where the drum and hub seperate? and you want to cut them loose? let me know.
Just so there's no confusion, '36 was the first year for the wide five bolt pattern, though it is the same spacing and appearance as the '37-9. The spindle and hub however are different for the '36 (bearing spacing). So, if you're accurate that what you have is actually '36 there isn't a standard disc kit available for that.
You're right Bob, i looked it up and the '36 was first year for wide 5. Funny how you mis-remember things. I was thinking '36 was last year for 16" wires and '37 introduced the roundback spindle with wide5.
Just so i understand - not highjacking here i don't think - the '36 wide5 hub is different from the '37 and up wide5 hub? and they can't interchange? if you have a '36hub it won't go on a '37 spindle? Is that right? Is there a way to tell if you are looking at a '36 hub?
I've been gathering wide5 stuff and i'm mating them to buick drums and don't want to go thru all that work and have a front hub i can't use.
