How much?
Building a 33 Ford coupe and wanting to know what is the minimum distance you have to have between the rear axle tube and the frame of the car? I thought someone said 3 1/2".

I asked this very question not too long ago. I was told pretty much depends on what type of rear setup your running, ie leafs, coilovers etc. Im shooting for five inches on mine running quarter eliptical springs and standard shocks. i hear you can get away with 3 with coilovers.

These old cars don't travel as far up and down as one would think, generally. Usually they will only bounce an inch or two. I like to have about 4 inches between the axle and the bottom of the frame, just to be on the safe side.

Team Lab, my '33 Highboy measures 3 5/8" at the C-notch with a full tank of gas and no passenger load. It has rear coil over suspension.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
