If you want to do a frame clip, the front end from a G body GM car works well. '78-'86 Monte Carlo, El Camino, Cutlass, Grand Prix, Regal. Lots of fellows use the S10 clip also. If you want to retain the entire '40 frame, there are bolt-in and weld-in crossmembers using the MII design. Some are nice, some are junk.
I put a Fatman clip on the front of my 50 Plymouth wagon. It has power steering and M2 susp. It's more $$ then a S-10 but is very nice and went on with very little problems.
I did a 36 Chevy coupe about 4 years ago and used a Speedway mustang II setup, Went on pretty easy and once i had the springs & shocks dialed in was real smooth and nice. good price too :)
Chassis engineering has some nice stuff, not bad prices as well.
Rich,
I am using front and rear 1986 Corvette C4 suspension on a 1940 Ford. These are getting cheap as C4s get trashed. Is anyone else have experience with these?
