i figure ill post here with my question, im trying to put on a set of moroso u-joint girdles and what a pain in the butt. i had to drill the yoke out <which it says you may have to do> then the nut wont fit so now i am taking the dye-grinder and making a spot for the nut. anybody else have this problem which these things? its like a can of worms!!!! .... its a 12 bolt chevy..i know they make them for dana's and 9inchs to....scooter :CRY:
Just curious Scooter, has u-joint breakage been a problem for you?
no not yet :D, but later this year i plan on getting slicks and i figured it was well worth the 20 bucks for a "just in case" part.
I had a camaro for 4 years that ran 11.90, pulled literally no kidding thousands of holeshots all over town and at the strip, on slicks and drag radials. With a 10 bolt posi with stock girdles and never once had a problem. Changed the U-joints a couple times. But you never know. Man I ran the snot out of that car all the time.
I have a pair of them I was going to run on my roadster.
Guy at the local driveline shop says not to use them.
The HD u-joint caps are stronger.
Not only his opinion, but that of several local drag racers running 9-10 second door slammers.
They look purty hangin on the wall though....

I would say if you already drilled them out. You might as well finish installing them and try them out. The hard part is done and they might be O.K. for you. If not then go to plan B !
I will be honest, I was gonna order a set for my mustang just because they were 20 bucks, But I think I will now pass.
We use them... Like most anything they take a bit of tuning and tweaking to get them to fit correctly. When fit correctly and installed and torqued properly they do help keep the caps in place a bit more securely. I've broke the stock style straps a couple times so the $30.00 is cheap insurance.... If you're still planning on converting to a "real" tranny some day, then for sure take the time to put them in!!!!!! (Along with every other little piece of strenthening and reinforcement you can find for that poor 12 bolt!!!!!

Yeah Scooter,Those modifieds are a lot of fun,at least if you are just working on them and your wallet isn't involved. I always liked building them,hated going to the track and watching them getting smacked . Hank
yes thats true. but i did find a good deal on one. heck the drag car dont need nothin comapred to one of these things oil change and nut/bolt the car vs that + about 50 more things :eek:
