We use them... Like most anything they take a bit of tuning and tweaking to get them to fit correctly. When fit correctly and installed and torqued properly they do help keep the caps in place a bit more securely. I've broke the stock style straps a couple times so the $30.00 is cheap insurance.... If you're still planning on converting to a "real" tranny some day, then for sure take the time to put them in!!!!!! (Along with every other little piece of strenthening and reinforcement you can find for that poor 12 bolt!!!!!
