My Ford manual says, pinion nut torque for all removable carrier rear ends, 1969-1975, (that's the 9") 175 ft.lb. or 200 ft.lb. as above.
The 25 inch pounds is the torque required to turn the pinion shaft when it's all tightened up, not the torque on the nut.
