tAKE THE STOCK ONE OFF, LET IT "RELAX" FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN MEASURE THE EYE TO EYE DISTANCE ON IT.
Probably 29. You have to allow for the spring to stretch out when weight is on it, plus, you want the shackles to angle in, even when some weight is on it.
To put the new spring on, use some big clamps, remove the center bolt (carefully) install only the main leaf, then reassemble the rest of the leaves onto the shackled main leaf. Otherwise it's a bear to stretch the complete spring that far an get the shackles in.

Thanks, the truck is assembled and I really do not want to completely dissassemble it to take a measurement, unless I have to, Its still 12 below out there in the garage as of twenty minutes ago - no heat :(
Measure the distance from center to center of the perch bolts on the axle and talk to the people you are buying the spring from. If they have that dimension, they will know which spring length it requires.
Kool! that works, I have that dimension already,Thanks
Measure the straight line distance at the top of the axle between the spring perch bolts. Subtract 5 1/4". That's the eye-to-eye dimension for the main leaf.Quote:

1. Install the complete spring into the U-bolts.

3. Wedge a block of wood between the end of the spring and the top of the axle to hold the shackle horizontal.
4. Put a similar thickness piece of wood under the other end of the spring.
5. Jack up the axle to put pressure against the spring until you can slide the second shackle into place.
