31 A Rear Coil Overs
ok will be near the rear soon and doing some research. Having a 31 sedan what would be the best coil over # rate to run . I want a comfort ride and not a sport . I figure the car will have about a 1000# weight total in the rear Am i guessing close ??? . Also if any one has some good used ones for sale im open for some bickering (lol)
length would be a question also. I see they come in so many different sizes.

Why not run a transverse rear spring?
More travel than a coilover and more tunable overall.
-
I would use about a 15" extended length and probably about a 250 pound rear spring to keep the ride decent....
-
I see from some searching i really should mock it . I can build some adjustable mock shocks then that would help in shock length right.
Dave ty also why is some straight and some angled on different builds.
C9 looks like that set up would give the best ride .
I do wish it was summer and cars where out . I'd buy gas for a ride to compare different set ups.

Generally, coilovers are mounted vertical on drag cars where the ride is of little importance. A bit of angle, 15 degrees or so, really helps the ride plus adds a bit of side to side stability to the car. I would highly suggest doing the mock up first, check the specs on the coilover to see what the extended and compressed length is, make your mock up struts to be in the middle of that range.

Dave Thank You , I should have the body off in a couple weeks and i will be installing the rear suspension . Maybe i will gain a little of this science everyone here has from there building.

You're welcome. Don't know if it's science, probably more just a case of been there, done that!!!!
