Ackerman?
This rod was in the November SRM. It's what I'd call a nostalgia rod - or old school. What I don't understand is how the Ackerman could possibly be set up correctly with the reversed spindles. There simply isn't enough room between the spindle tierod eye and the backing plate to bend the spindle arm far enough to make the eye, the centerline of the kingpin and the center of the rear axle line up correctly. So, I guess his straight ahead steering is fine, but he'll buy new tires more often than the rest of us.

That system would work better with radial tires which would contribute more tire slip to the equation. The tires on the car look like bias ply tires to me.

Tech,
They're Coker's Firestone Deluxe Champions.

Doesn't look like it would be a real competitive road racer at all..........

I had a super comp car with that steering setup. It went fine in a straight line, but it sure squeaked and skidded on a turn - which was OK with me.

my old 85 ford f350 looked wierd when the wheels were turned, i don't think they had the geometry right on it either it would squeel the tires when turning in a parking lot. a way to do a front tie rod if you can't get the pivot point out where it belongs would be to use a triangular intermediate pivot plate like the go carts used
