Rear Axle Swap
I hope there is a "40 Plymouth fan out there that can tell me what is the best and easiest to install rear end to put in my 40 Plymouth P10 Sedan. I have a 350SBC and TH700R4 tranny that will go in it. My current measurement flange to flange is 56 inches.
Any info appreciated......

We put a '76 Camaro rear in our '40 Chrysler, and the tires are inside the fenders.

Bob...I've seen these charts before. If you look at them closely they appear to have contradictory information about cars and rear axle lengths...one for sure are those that mention Monte Carlos and Big Chevys. Anyway..Monte's are about 57-58" wide in early 80's. I guess Im concerned about ending up with too much backspacing of rims so want a good "drop in axle" if anybody knows of one. 39's were shorter and thinner than 40's. Plymouth in 40 made a body/frame change form earlier models a best a I can make out.Originally posted by Bob Parmenter

I have installed a 74 dodge van rear in a 41 Ply coupe worked well. Also the 8 " out of a granada would be close.Choose your battles well===If it dont go chrome it
