Hey Shadow,
I helped my dad's buddy build a '47 and we used the front sub frame off a 75 oldsmobile omega. The suspension is similar to a nova and has readily available brake and steering parts. These cars can be bought and stripped for little to no cash. The frame rails on the Omega and your coupe are only about six inches different in width and a semi skilled welder/fabricator can easily locate and match up the two. The only difficult part is the fact that if you want to do this right you have to either fabricate your own front crossmember or narrow the existing one. this includes shortening tie rods and steering arms. We accomplished the difficult way in a weekend. the car handles and rides beautifully and has disc brakes and power steering. Surprisingly the suspension looks fantastic and we have been asked to help out more friends with theirs.
