Joe, a '57 Ford 9" should be about as close to perfect width as you can find for an A sedan, if you can find one. A Maverick 8" will work great, too. Like you said, they are a bit on the light duty side especially with a manual trans. The good 9" rears are getting to be a bit hard to find, so I have been just calling either Currie or Moser and ordering up what I need, a bit more spendy, but all new parts.
