1930 Model A
Hello
I'm stuck on what rear end to go with for my 30 Tudor with boxed orig frame.
I would like to know if there is a ford 9 inch that I could drop right in with minumal work.
I think a 1969 couger is the correct width and thought I would ask for suggestions so let me know.
Thanks
Joe

Ive always heard that the early 9in from the mid to late 50's cars were the narrowest and also the cleanest looking. (ex: 57 ranchero ) When i was looking for a rear end i went to the junk yard and found some. They would have worked great for me but the guy wanted like 250 for it and it was missing something which i dont remember. So I ended up using a 8in because i didnt want to have to cut one down. Im building a 33 though. My brother how ever is building a model a and he used a 8in from like a granada and he didnt have to cut it down either.
You might want to look into a 8in. Your not going to tear it up either.

Thanks for the suggestion the only issue I have with an 8 inch is that I dont think they are that strong unless a spend some coin on upgrades at least thats what I have been told.

Joe, a '57 Ford 9" should be about as close to perfect width as you can find for an A sedan, if you can find one. A Maverick 8" will work great, too. Like you said, they are a bit on the light duty side especially with a manual trans. The good 9" rears are getting to be a bit hard to find, so I have been just calling either Currie or Moser and ordering up what I need, a bit more spendy, but all new parts.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
