Corvair steering?

I'm using a reversed Corvair steering box on my roadster. The steering shaft turns 5.5 times lock to lock. I backed it off 2.75 turns from all the way to the right and put the pitman arm on. When I set the box on top of the frame the pitman arm is swept back on about a 60 degree angle. When I mounted my drag link to the steering hoop on the LF spindle it steers so far to the left that the drag link rubs the LF backing plate. I'm guessing that's from the pitman arm angle and not having it pointing straight down. Is this normal or do I have to heat up the arm and bend it perpendicular to the frame rail? Thanks for the help.

It's the pitman arm that came off the steering box, so it's the right one. It was oreiented differently in the corvair chassis, I'm assuming inside the left front frame rail. Now it's on top of the frame and the gears have been reversed so it can be used with the traditional steering setup. I saw a T-bucket for sale on Ebay with the same setup as me and the arm was swept way back too. I wondered if this was common or do I need a stop of some sort to limit the steering input to the left? :confused:

It turns out my problem was lack of steering stops. After I installed the stops I had 1.5 turns of the steering wheel either direction from center. I test drove it today before the snow hit and I had plenty of turning radius. 2.75 turns is probably way more than you need?
