Thread: Mustang II suspension kit comparison

I have been to buy a Mustang II style front suspension kit for my 39'Chevy. There are many kits available and I want to get some advice or opinions on some of the major brands (Heidts, TCI, Fatmans, Chassis Engineering, Southern Rods, etc.) All I need is a basic kit, Big brakes, dropped spindles, no polished items etc. There is such a price difference in some of these kits I just want some opinions, thanks in advance.

Heidt's is the standard of the industry, it's the one the other's will compare themselves to. It's a reputation well earned. Chassis Engineering has been at it a long time, builds sound products and has a loyal following. If you go to their site, they have a compelling discussion about the benefits of their bolt in system relative to the peculiarities of design inherent in your particular frame.

Total Cost Involved has pretty much copied the Heidt's product, though they've had an up and down quality history. Same for the Fat One as far as quality, while making a less "elegant" looking system. Some don't like that his lower member is a butt weld to the bottom of the rails only, rather than wrapping on two sides like Heidt's and the clones.
