I have asked this before and been answered, but I misplaced the info. PLease help again. Point gap on a 283 engine. The engine is from a chevelle 66 I think, but I am running it in a 57 CJ5. I am planning on getting a Pertronix plug-n-play distributor, maybe for christmas and then I am done with points.
Also, what is the difference between all wheel drive (full time) and four wheel drive such as my F150 has. MY wife has a volvo XC90 with AWD. She asked me but I had no good explanation. Thanks..
The point gap for a GM V8 is .016. I don't know nuthin bout the other thing, I leave that up to the 4WD helpers.Quote:

All wheel drive is basicly a 4wd stuck in 4 hi if it's full time, if it's on/ off 4wd I belive the diffrence is 4wd has a high and low rang and AWD ( non full time ) has just on and off. I think anyways.
most 4 wheel drives are engaged with a lever or switch and then low or hi is selected with a lever or switch, where you have awd you dont have to do anything. if you need 4 wheel drive it does it auto. on the jeeps you have both, the grand Cherokee has all time 4 wheel drive, but you have to put it in hi or low by hand. on other jeeps you have to put it in 4 wheel drive by hand and hi or low by hand. most of the cars and vans that have awd dont have a low gear and you wouldnt know it was there unless you read it somewhere. :D
also on the points thing md85 after you or if you move you points setting be sure to check your timing because every degree of dwell you change the points will change the timing the same degrees. :)

There is an actual difference between All Wheel Drive and 4WD. All wheel drive had couplings that allow for differences in speed when driving and turning. 4wheel is a more locked system, where all of the wheels turn the same speed all the time. This is why they dont reccomend use of 4 wheel drive on the roads for extended periods of time. It leads to twisted axle shafts and broken CV joints. I guess the best way to sum it up is 4Wheel=two posis All Wheel=2 limited Slips.
i was joking about that to, but we're thinking along the same lines and i like that. i cant work eather, but i have a shop i go to about every day, a few hrs. and help them out with some elec. problems that they may have. about got this auto. computer thing down pat. but its something dif. every day. :DQuote:

a grand Cherokee jeep is about as 4 wheel drive as you can get and its a all wheel drive. there is no lever or switch to engage the 4WD. :rolleyes: :LOL: :LOL:Quote:

ive been in bus. for myself for 25 yrs and in 1994 i had blood poison that messed up my heart and back, but i still had my shop and in 1995 that burned down with $200,000.00 worth of tools and equipment gone. had some ins. but not enough, when you loose your bus. and health in 1 yr. that's rough. but i lived through it and i didn't go hungry, so what the hell. everybody got a story. :whacked: :DQuote:

the other Jeep has both 4w drive full time and 4w drive part time high and low on both all done manually with the same lever. Ed ke6bnl
i have a hard time understanding how you can have 4WD without having posi=tracton in both dif. . most people dont know you have 2 fif gear ratios in front and rear. :DQuote:
