I discovered a magnet works great for this.
and you can find a pair of VERY STRONG magnets in a computer hard drive.
HINT: don't take the one out of this computer you're using at the moment....but find a scrap hard drive somewhere or borrow your buddies!:D

Great idea ohekk! By the way did you get your name when you dropped a wrench inside a fender?
As a preventive measure if you are working in a tight spot where dropping a wrench is likely to happen, tie a nice piece of twine to it. You can either tie it to your wrist or just let it hang loose. That way if the wrench drops you can just grab the twine and pull it back to you. Has worked for me more than once

I think those magnet are called Neo-didium magnets (sp) quite expensive if you dont have old harddisk around, I use them regularly around my rod to hold stuff in place to measure mark and cut, little tip is to wrap them in a piece of cloth or a plastic bag as they can really attract some ferrous shavings! The cloth allows you to keep the little suckers clean by just unwrapping and shaking ;)

Just be careful with the magnets, they are dangerously strong when near eachother( set 1 on the bottom of your hand on a table, let the other go, see how it feels ), I have a set and they will pick 1 another up from a couple inches away or more. And if you get them stuck togther, it's hard to get them apart, have to slide them and that is even hard. They would work great for picking up wrenches outa fenders and other stuff.
Did your tool fall back behind the fender well and inner fender well?
If it did just unbolt the bottom of the fender and should be a bolt in the jamb area and un do that one , pull fender out a bit with door open and it should fall out .
Just buy a new wrench and put it in the tool box. We won't tell. HEheHE:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

There ya' go. Problem solved. Ya' end up with a shinny new wrench. Car gets insulated and a little extra sound deadener. And ya get a little ballast for the front end. I like it!!!:LOL: :LOL:Quote:

well I retrieved my wrench (" zippy a de do da ow my my what a wonderful day") he he he it fell into the heater duck pulled the blower motor and there it sat just smiling back at me. as far as the string thing It a good idea but i think it would be better to not to put a wrench up there in the first place I just bought two new matco fender mats that has nylon mash pockets . thanks for all your help and suggestions:p :D :whacked: :LOL:
