power brakes

will I be able to stop my truck with front discs and rear drums
WITHOUT power brakes. Or should I just start figuring out now how I will fit a booster in there.

Just install a really wide pedal, and use both feet.

tcodi... If this truck or car will be an every day driver or something that you will drive a lot and not just to shows then go with Power brakes. I have driven ton's of trucks and cars with no power brakes and you have to worry about them a lot in the rain and when your flying down a pretty busy road or so. I am making the decision on where to get all my brake parts like the master cylinder, booster, valves, etc but not sure where I can find a kit with everything in it out there and I have looked tons.
www.p-s-t.com has quite a bit of brake products that I hear work real well and they aren't really expensive like Wilwood or Baer...

I guess I'll spring for the booster. It's just that I'm putting a manual in it and I'm not sure how I'll incorporate the booster in with the clutch pedal. The stock pedal assembly locates everything under the cab, master cylinder and all. I've seen aftermarket power brake assembly's for 47-54 chevy trucks, but never with a clutch pedal also.
The space down there is tight too. Maybe I could get a booster and master cylinder and just locate it back a foot or so from the original assembly and just run a long rod back to it off the brake pedal.
If anyone has any suggestions on a similar application I'd love to hear it.

Reference the Kugel unit:
I installed one in my 39 Chevy. They are good looking pieces but not cheap. Hanging pedal with or without clutch. Also, with or without power booster. A 39 is a relatively big car with a fair amount of room under the dash. After putting in the Vintage air Gen-II I barely had enough room for the Kugel unit without clutch and without power booster. The install is really clean looking but I would have loved the power brakes. I am looking into a system that was just previewed from Louisville new products. Some kind of"multiplier" to the fluid line. I don't have Street Rod Builder near me but I think it eas in this months issue.

Bob, the one you posted I've seen before. On second look, I think that would work perfectly. The first time I saw that type I didn't look closely enough and I thought it bolted in the stock location of "the pedal assembly." In reality it bolts in the stock location of "the master cylinder ON the pedal assembly."
So I can still use the stock pedal assembly and keep my clutch setup.
I'd rather use that type than hog up all kinds of space on my firewall. I'd better start saving my pennies too.

You are right Mike, it was in SRB/Nov, the multiplier was the NSRA Best New Product in the $100-500 catagory. Its from ECI, it's claimed to increas line pressure 50-60 percent.

BOB ,have you see the hydro-boost style brake boosters they are smaller and seem to be a good system ,as long as you also have power steering .

Yeah kenny that's another option. Anyone interested we've had a few posts around here about them. Don Meyer has used them and has contributed some info. Just do a search under both hydro boost and hydra boost, that sould get them.

Whats stopping you from a Small power booster design from something like a corsica? Seems to me that if your vehicle had the option of power brakes from the factory, you should already have the space needed. Or did trucks have power brakes in 50?
