'51 chevy 3100 pickup
I've never done this before, so I have a question.
I want to put a 350 and a turbo350 trans in it. Are there any conversion kits for this, or will it require custom fabrication?
If a kit is available, who makes it and where do you buy one?
Also, for a daily driver, would the stock rear-end work? if not, what would you recommend?

In addition to Bob's link, the original rear end is geared too low & has a enclosed drive shaft. There will be a need to change the trans, cross members rear end, drive shaft, motor mounts ,trans mounts, radiator & at least some modifications to the suspension.

Thanks for the link and info.......
Don, you mentioned suspension changes, what am I getting to there?
I'm trying to put a budget together fot this project, any info is of great help. I figured I would need to change the other stuff. For the rear end would one out of a newer truck('60's - '70's) bolt in without much modification?

I think they would be too wide. I have a rear end from a Ford Granada under mine. A Camaro would probably work.
Good Luck Don

i dont know but i'v been looking into putting a 305 into one to and i was just wondering if the inset steering box would be in the way of the engine and if it is how hard would it be to move???

Small block No Problem!! I've got a Cadillac 500ci in mine!:toocool: Had a sbc first several kits out there, camero rear fits fine just cut off old brackets. Buy spring mounts from chassis engin. V-8 motor mounts & trans mount from several places, ie.Classic Industries. EASY!! No firewall cutting.
