rear end interchange for 48 pontiac
I want to get a spare rear end for my 48 pontiac silver streak but im not sure what years will have the same center section. I found a 41' sitting in the woods and was told, take what ever I want! does anybody know if this will work?

41 to 48 will be the same, as long as they are the same series. A body to A body, B body to B body. Pontiac used both bodies. Easiest way to tell, measure the width of the windshield. As long as both cars are the same, the rear end will fit. If it's different, the rear end won't be the sameAnyone can restore an old car, it takes a man to cut one up

Why not just put a 9 inch rear end under there? 9 inches are what most hot rodders use and are really good. If I had the money and all then that's what I would get....www.streamlineautocare.com
If you wan't something done right, then you have to do it yourself!

thanks for the replies. The reason I want to stay with this rear is because I already set up for my model A (Brackets already welded on). The 48 pont isnt a torque tube rear , it looks just like a ford 9" (w/a removable center section). Im hoping that the 41' that I found will have the same center just so that I will have a spare or maybe even a different gear ratio to choose from.
Thanks again.
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
