two peice drive shaft ???

OK SO HERE I GO AGAIN AND (YES STREETS IT'S ANOTHER CHEBBY ?) HEHEHE


SO I CHANGED THE U-JOINTS OUTTA THE TWO PIECE DRIVE SHAFT IN THE OLD PICK-UP TWO DAYS AGO I ALWAYS FIGURED ONE SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO GO CHANGE EM ALL CAUSE THE WAY THE LUCK RUNS FOR ME IT FALLS APART IN UNISON. GET THE TRUCK BACK ON THE ROAD HIT THE HIWAY FOR A SPELL AND THE TRUCK HITS ABOUT (80 OR 85 KM\H) AND IT FEELS LIKE SHE WANTS TO SHAKE HERSELF APART.

AT FIRST I THOUGHT TIRES ARE OUT OF BALANCE SO I HIT THE TIRE SHOP THAT MY BROTHER-IN-LAW WORKS AT AND GET HIM TO RE-BALANCE TIRES, TO RULE THAT PROBLEM OUT. OK THAT DONE HIT THE ROAD POP ON THE HIWAY HIT THE SAME SPEED (80 TO 85KM\H) AND IT STARTS AGAIN SO IM THINKING STABILIZER BEARING ON THE CENTRE OF THE DRIVE SHAFT RIGHT!!!

I HAVE A SINGLE SHAFT DRIVE SHAFT OFF OF THE OLD CHEVY THATS PRETTY WELL THE SAME TRUCK AS I GOT ON THE ROAD GIVE OR TAKE A COUPLE OF OPTIONS.... DO U THINK THAT ITS EASIER WITH THE SINGLE OR JUST STAY WITH THE TWO PIECE???? PROBLY A SILLY QUESTION..

IM PROBLY NOT USEING ANY COMMON SENSE CAUSE THE SINGLE IN MY VIEW SHOULD FIT JUST PERFECT RIGHT??

most of the time you cant find a one piece shaft to replace the 2 piece shaft and if you do they are so long it hard to keep them from vibrating. are you sure your 2 piece it lined up right, hears a drawing how its suppose to be. hope this helps

Have you checked/changed the carrier bearing? That's the bearing that supports the back of the front shaft. They are usually mounted in rubber to dampen vibration and the rubber can wearout, stretch and crack. Also the bearing itself can go bad. This is a common source of vibration in two piece setups that have a lot of miles.

Also you mentioned you had the tires balanced. hopefully they were also checked for out of round or ply seperations. I heard of several instances just recently where mysterious vibrations ended up being tire problems.
