Master cylinder choice
I'm building a '56 Plymouth 2dr, am using an '84 Chrysler 5th Avenue front subframe & a Lincoln Versailles 9" rear w/disc brakes. What kind of master cylinder can I use for the 4-wheel discs, w/no power assist? Is this feasible? There is VERY little space available with the 440 sitting there.:(

Have you thought about using a hydraulic assist booster like they use on the diesil trucks ? It takes a line from the power steering pump and is quite compact little unit. I would say start looking at your local GM dealership for availability and price.

I am using a hydroboost from a Caddy(diesel) w/a vette master cylinder. It's in my RR streetrod.

I'm not familiar with hydro-boosts, don't know much about diesels. Is this a brake booster, or is it used for some other function?
As for being inventive, that's why I'm here, I've come up with a few ideas, but this will be my daily back-and-forth to work car, so I don't really want to give up my glove box or do any thing that's hard to reach or service. I'm aware of the small booster setups, but don't have the funds for that right now. Thanks for the suggestions, and I'll be waiting to hear what a hydro-boost is. I live in a town of about 75 people, so it's not a hot-bed of rod building.;)

Thanks, techinspector. I like the looks of the hydraboost system, and there are older Caddies around. I like the fact that I don't have tofabricate some one-off, weird setup to make evrything fit. Thanks again!
