I need help as to how best track a short in my wiring of my guages.
I have a Track T roadster with a wiring kit, and am using Stewart Warner Wings guages.
The problem occurs when I have the headlights on and the gauges should be backlit. With the lights off, the electric guages work fine. On, the oil pressure and fuel level gauges peg.
I don't know how or where to begin to check for a short connection......HELP!

My first suggestion would be to disconnect both oil and fuel press guages, then hook one back up to see if it pegs when lghts are on, then the other. Not sure how the guages are set up on your vehicle though.
They are wired in sequence. I should also note that none of the lights in the guages work. Also, no sort has been strong enough to cause a fuse to pop.
I do have the wiring diagram, so my question is pretty much what to disconnect and how to test. I have an analog electic tester for DC. I guess I disconnect at each end and start narrowing down the possible culprit?

Kinda sounds like you might have a ground problem. A quick check would be to run a test lead to a GOOD ground and then touch it to the back of the guage and see if that clears up the problem.
Another method might be to pull the fuses 1 at a time and see if the symtom gos away. At least it might isolate it to one cirkit. just a thought...
