There was one that I saw on the street . One guy in my neighborhood used to bring it to the Tuesday cruise nights. it was a little Dodge Rampage ( Not sure about the name of the truck)
From the factory, it was a front wheel drive small El'Camoino style truck based on the Omni/Horizon 2dr models in the mid 80's.
This one was light blue , used a Pantera Drivetrain , had a Chevy V8 and a scoop that went over the roof.
how about useing a olsmobile torinodo trans axel

[B]David, thanks for the Pantera suggestion. I'm pretty sure you'd have to take a second on the house and sell your kids to buy a Pantera drivetrain today though. You could make it work with a Porsche transaxle that wouldn't be that expensive.

Thats a great site . My only question would be if the Porsche suspension would mate up correctly to the S-10.
J.C. Witney might have a Pantera TYPE setup. Also the old Corvair
Vans and Side-load pickups had a rear engine mount setup.
The picture of the wheelie truck reminded me .
ow yea your right I for got all about the caddy and I do agree bigger is much better with a few exception to that rule :p  :D but its a s10 its not going to take much to lift it:toocool:

lt1s10, you could make the whole affair narrower by fabricating your own suspension and axles. It's just that when I came up with this idea, I was looking for a way to do it on the cheap. You should be able to buy a whole running Eldorado of the '71 to '76 vintage for very little, particularly if it has been in an accident that involved the rear or side.
thanks for the input guys, didnt know about the porch setup. that looks good. i had been looking at archies fiero setup but i dont belive that would be stronge enough. the cad. is probably the way to go, but i have to worry about va. st. inspection first. it might be a way around them thought. if you cant shave the door handles off it probably would be near imposible to sneak a motor in the bed of the truck. **) **) :3dSMILE:
you cant shave your door handles what I my self have never heard of that if that were case I would be thinking about a move un less of cource your in the military then your stuck:confused:   :whacked: :3dSMILE:
hotroders in va. cant do much anymore, its easy to write a law that says how ever it came from the factory thats the way it has to be. but i think in a free country if you can shave your handles in west va. or wherever then i should be able to do it in va. i have a shave you handle kit at the shop that i bought and then found out you cant do that here. i put n.c. lic plates on the veh. for awhile but i was told you still had to pass the va. insp. if the veh. stayed in the st. over 30 days at a time.  :CRY:Quote:

I would go a look at your state law ord. as long as your state law dont sate you have to have door handles I would tell your town clown to go blow you just got to find the loop hole it just like they say you have to have a whinsheld no it states you have to have eye protection but dont quote me Ive been spoiled here in Az. But go look at your state lawsQuote:

the law says the doors has to open and close the way it did when it came from the factory. the tropper i talk to told me about a car he stoped one time and the guy had put the toe button be hind the front lic. plate and they dont like elec. door openers because if you in accident they wont know how to open the door. va. is doing it the easy way now, if it came from the factory its ok, other wise dont mess with it. :confused:Quote:

lt1s10, john is right. Go to the law library at a local university or some other place where you can look it up and read it for yourself. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU ANYTHING ABOUT THE LAW UNTIL YOU READ IT FOR YOURSELF IN BLACK AND WHITE.
When I first moved to Arizona, I was interested in buying and selling cars on a casual basis, you know, run ads from home and sell a car on the weekend kind of thing. Well, everyone and I mean EVERYONE that I talked with about this said that you can only sell 3 cars per year without a dealer's license and that a dealer's license was a hassle to get ($$, commercial property, etc.), so I put it on hold and did other things in the following few years. It was not until I got a ticket for crossing a gore area on a freeway off-ramp that I got fired-up enough to read the law myself. I discovered that because I had reduced my speed and had shown extreme care in the crossing of the double white line, that I was not guilty and I got the case thrown out of court on my own, without a lawyer. WOW, was the cop red-faced over losing!!!!!! Anyway, having learned that people do indeed make mistakes in interpreting the law, I proceeded to investigate the 3 cars per year law. To my surprise, I found out by reading the law myself, any private Arizona citizen can sell as many cars per year as he/she wants to for cash, but if a citizen is going to sell the car AND FINANCE IT to the buyer, he/she is limited to 3 cars FINANCED per year and selling as many as you want to for cash. So you see, I labored under mis-information for years. I strongly urge you to find this door handle law in black and white and read it for yourself. I think you'll find that it says something completely different than what everyone is telling you.
There are door releases available that will operate with just passing a magnet over a sensor on the car as well as other cool devices, so I'm sure there is a loophole there somewhere.
Seems like it would be easier and more cost effective to use a current front wheel drive v/6 setup. Just have to fab up a cradle to hold it place. There are a lot of v/6 turbo kits available. Maybe a twin turbo set up? With this you'd get independent suspension, disc brakes. Great for the handling and stopping power. Good luck>:toocool:
thinks for the input, but it would have to be a V8. how about a cad. north star set up?
hmmmmm the mid engine idea would be kewl. Thanks for getting me thinking about something else to build, Richard!!! Tee Hee Hee. The 500 Caddy would be kewl, or maybe adapt a new Northstar engine to it??? Dang it, now where is my nephew with the cad-cam software in his computer??? Maybe a stretched deuce roadster?? Hey, how about a chopped and dropped mid engine mini-van?? Gotta think about this some!!!!
that mini-van deal sounds good, but why not just set the northstar, trans-axel down in there. its my understanding that you can have the axels made any length you wont them  :confused:Quote:

its all about weight distribution the v6 would not have the power or weight to lift the front end and keep it where the big monster 455 or 500 would did you not watch monster garage:p    :D
im glade you said to convert it to 12 volts cause i would play hell pulling that 110 volt cord around**) :confused:Quote:

no johhn i must have missed that one, but if i was to do that, the motor would have to be a little extreme.:3dSMILE: :3dSMILE:Quote:

no not realy they took a ambulance about a 78 or 80 ford van and took the stock motor shoved it to the back cource they striped it to the bare bone shell it was really cool to watch this ambulance go down the road with the front end up in the air    :toocool:Quote:

I guess I would not be interested in doing wheels up launches, spent too much time at the drags trying to hook the car and control the lift on the front. I always considered the best hook to be just seeing a bit of daylight under the fronts, getting the car to hook straight and hard. The wheels up stuff to me is motion in the wrong direction, up instead of forward. When the wheels got too high, the 60 foot times suffered, and of course the ET as well.
i agree i like all 4 wheels on the ground. how about a little lead under the hood? :confused:Quote:

Shallow stage and wheels up??? Not me man!!! That was my brudder!!! ummmm Can I take the 5th. Tech gonna be over here with his big whackin' stick putting knots on my head!!! But anyway, it used to work. Just a footnote in the ongoing battle of technology versus innovation... (AKA--cheaters vs. teckers)
ive done just about everything you can do with a car (a lot of round tracking) but pulling the wheels off the ground just wont one of them. damet! i just found out that i might have missed my calling, o well ive allways been a day late and a doller short. i didnt like all those bent up oil pans.Quote:
