i have a 66 c 10 truck chevy.with a small block with manual steering independent front suspentoin.my questoin is i get how to put in the rack but i dont understant the steering linkage do u link from existing box to the pinion or do have to get from the steering shaft(steerin wheel shaft) to the pinion without a gear box.? thnx:confused:
The Rack & Pinion replaces your existing steering box and linkages. It is mounted to the frame of the car and the steering column is extended to connect to the "Pinion." When you turn the wheel, it turns the "pinion" , which moves the "rack" to the right or left. The "rack" has tie rods connected to it that connect to your spindles and move the wheels left or right. Really a very simple system.
If you go to Google and search for Rack and Pinion Conversions, you will find a number of companies that offer kits. You can also search here as the topic has come up before. But, last check the CHR Search feature was not working.
