Well basically the only way to do it is take it all off..... I know it sounds like a smart ass comment but that's the only way I can put it. When you take off the hoses, mark them with tape and mark a number like 2 on the hose and on the spot you took it off. Also use Ziplock baggies and put the bolts in there and get a sharpie marker and mark on the bag with what bolts go where.... that will save you time and the trouble. I hope this helps and good luck.
Umm.... isn't R-12 illegal now? I was told by a shop teacher that it puts "harmful" gases in the air which is why they switched to the other stuff. At very least I thought you couldn't buy it anymore.
Anyway, I actually did acquire a manual and made a lot of progress this afternoon. Pretty sure(not possitive) I can get it out without removing the A/C compressor! After removing all of the hoses and minor stuff out of the way, I am near positive that I can simply pry it at one corner and lift the whole thing straight out.
I'd like to take the 340 manifold I've got and get it weighed! I bet that joker is about 50-60 pounds. And the 360 heads are even heavier. I suprised the crap out of this really old Mopar guy when I lugged em off, one in each hand.
r-12 is not illegal but they are not making much if any anymore, you do however have to be certified to buy it, as for putting harmful gasses in the air the studie that was done to determin this was done by Dupont which, surprise surprise, is the same company who originally came out with the replacement r134a, if it puts harmful gasses into the air how come when you check an a/c system for leaks you check on the under side of lines and components, answer, because r-12 is heavier than the surrounding air:whacked: either way r12 is really expensive, usually around 30-40 dollars for a 12oz can, i would also vote to scrap the a/c, if it is a rare item, just make sure you remove the components nicely so they can be reused if you were to sell them for extra money for your car, then you can alway run 2-55 a/c, 2 windows down at 55mph

DON'T remove your A/C! As for the intake swap, yeah, two bolts hold the compressor front mount onto the water pump. Theses also run through the timing chain cover into the block. May have to pull the fan and water pump pulley, may not hafta. Might want to save your money and either put a small cam in the 318 and a new timing chain at the same time...or go big block:3dSMILE:Quote:

R12 is no longer being manufactured, the 134a doesn't cool nearly as well. It is also illegal to dump it into the air, gotta recover it. Shop teacher is wrong, otherwise.
