10 bolt rear
Hello room - Just opened up my 10 bolt Camaro differential and found one of the axle c-clips had fallen out - how is this possible if the pinion shaft is supposed to hold the axles tight against the gears? is there something I should check as far as wear or misalignment? - This r/end has been out of the car for some time - but never upside down. Also where can I buy/find a pinion yoke holding tool so I can remove the pinion shaft? -I live in the San Diego area. Many Thanks - Charlyg

Maybe the bearing's have worn out to the point were there is enough slop for the clip to fall out? Just a guess but it's hard to diagnose a problem without actually looking at it.If the gear's show wear on the inner edge or the outer it mean's they are out of alignment. They should wear evenly, if not you might have to use shim's.Make sure you use locktite on the pinion bolt, I've seen them back out.

the clip may have fallen out due to a worn pin or housing where the pin resides. you can also check to see if the washers are still behing the spider gears if they are worn out or missing you can have this problem also.Last edited by junior; 05-24-2004 at 07:30 PM.
