You just never know what you'll find

Yesterday I went to meet a guy off of FB Marketplace to get another hood for my 40. It turns out he has a pretty neat collection he has collected over the years. He is a vet and served in Viet Nam. He saved his money while he was in and when he got out he bought the 1970 Corvette. He also bought the jet boat in the background. It is powered by a LS6 450hp 454. The roadster he bought in 2009 when he retired and he just finished the model A truck. His neighbor had a pretty sweet 32 Ford coupe setting outside of his shop. It turns out this guy with the coupe painted Bill's truck.

I spent a good hour talking with him and it turns out he knows an old friend of mine. They went to high school together and have known each other for ever. What a small world!

Here's the 32. Bill said his friend bought the car in Des Moines last year. Who ever built it did an nice job. I'd cruise it! :D The last pic is the hood shoved in my econo ride. :LOL:

I totally agree! When I first pulled into his property, I didn't expect to find anything too cool. But once again, you can't judge a book by it's cover. It turns out he purchased or inherited his family property after his parent's passed. His dad owned a glove factory and a coat factory in Grinnell for years. My friend told me Bill doesn't have to worry. Anyway, the place was dated but all fancy and had pristine white plastic fence around the entire thing. 2 houses on it, a couple small buildings and 2 different 3 car attached garages. He had the hood in an old corn crib and he had some other old parts in there. 3 different model A frames, and some misc other stuff. Once he figured out I was not a fruit loop he invited me into hos garage. it was pretty cool.

I do so like go fast boats - especially those with dry stack headers that rumble like dragsters - but my experience is that they tend to be a giant hole in the water where lots of money is gobbled up.

OK, the guy's got a F'ing boat but he's also got several righteous rides stashed in those buildings, the Deuce coupe is great, and you scored a hood that you can cut up to see if you like that shaker scoop hanging out there, all while you deal with the fact that you really, really want a blower to support the shaker instead of some lame "box". It's getting too cold for boats anyway!!

Chalk up my comment to envy.

I haven't handled my life decisions well enough to be able to fill a hole in the water with money.

He's obviously done well, and I wish him many hours of enjoyment with his many toys.

I did enjoy mine too! Back in the days I was on the water at least twice a week, water skiing and romp around!
