hard to find it around here . but even ethanol free is bad if left in over winter . i'm guilty of forgetting to winterize stuff . lot of stuff gets used a few times during the winter but after buying 3 carbs this year i will drain all of them .

What I did today was set machine #9 on fire while modifying a guard with a cut off wheel.

I would have to agree that I have become entirely too complacent using cut off wheel in the plant. Our major product is fiberglass cloth, and as you know fiberglass doesn't burn.

    Until it DOES.

I managed to send sparks under the gearbox which was covered in oil soaked fiberglass bits. It was dam impressive how quickly they built up to a very healthy flame.

We got it out pretty quick, just a couple wires singed and three damaged air lines.

A bad mistake with good outcomes.

    Lessons learned are many.

#1. hot work permit (with fire watch) needed for cutting discs. Be aware of where the sparks are going.

#2. Know where the fire extinguishers are. After the fire breaks out is too late to figure out where the closest one is.

#3. Work can be moved to the metal shop or other methods used such as a jig saw.

In Afghanistan, complacency was my ranger tabbed squad leader's greatest nemesis.

    Work safe.

your list is what I had to follow all the time where I worked. BUT even following the rules you can have a bad results. You can never have to many eyes on the job. I could go on about this and I'm sure any one in maintenance could too.

Yep, I've lit myself and my place on fire a time or two...okay 3 or 4! Extinguishers never seem large enough neither!

Hi Ryan, nice to see you again.. was thinking about trying to reach you as a local had some 40 ford parts for sale. I was curious if you needed anything?

My work has changed (again) so I'm trying to figure out where I fit in and how this will all work... The cranberry harvest is in.. (utter worthless thanks to ocean spray! ) but on the good side, my work life has become much lighter and I am home a lot more so maybe I can start getting back into projects and actually take some real vacations! And of course my big acquisition was a new puppy back some months. So I have spent some time working with him and have been hanging out at the local K9 club, we're participating in a couple sports and that has pulled me away from the cars and the shop.

Speaking of the shop, discovered a "bad spot" in the floor... so we'll soon be opening that can of worms and that gives me a warm wet scared feeling LOL....

After a lengthy delay to replace the carburetor, the bird is flying its Texas coop. Expected to land in GA Friday. I already have title, so off to the tag office!

    MORE delay.

The guy that came to pick up the car "bumped" it and cracked the spoiler. The dealer refuses to let them ship it, so I'm waiting for another company to be contracted.
