Very rad! I bet those parts can be really hard to find.

Very rad! I bet those parts can be really hard to find.
I got lucky, right after I bought the truck I started looking for a door and there was an ad on Craigslist from a guy that was parting out a 59. All that was left was the cab and some odds and ends but I got everything I needed. That doesn't happen very often.
Got more stuff put on and the rust in the fender cut out and patched. Now I’m going to go ahead and start wiring; just needed an inner fender to run the wiring on first.
It's looking great, I love the Flathead with the Dakota clip! Are you thinking about re shooting the outside yet?
Thanks. I don’t think so; I think I’ll stick with the beater look on this one. Just want to make it a solid driver.
Extraordinary performance young man.
.
Our shop is looking for a second service truck, if I was writing the checks you would have it sold already lol.
It's looking very nice Pat!
Finished up the wiring and everything works. Now I just have to wrap it. It worked out good using the Dakota harness. The old Motorola radio was in a box in the back when I bought the truck; I think it makes a cool prop. I’m going to hide a radio in the glovebox so there’s nothing modern looking on the dash. Next if going to put the exhaust back on, then the fender and start fixing up the passenger door.
There are companies making retro radios with modern guts.
A little pricey, but hey since you've saved so much scratch by only changing the hubcaps and floor mats, why not?
I had to edit that post twice to fix the computer's spell check changes. When will I learn to proof read? How do I turn off the spell check?
Back to life!

Got the back of the door patched; now for the front
Last bit for this weekend
looking great
Got the front patch made and tacked in; I’ve been using the Dakota hood for patch material. Hope to get it finished up and in primer this weekend.
Reduce Reuse Recycle.. Hot Rodders been doin' it for decades! 8-)
Ready for some primer tomorrow. Also made my glovebox and stashed the radio and volt gauge inside.
Well, the color is off but it is flat red and at least now it’s solid and that was the goal. Should have it back on this week.
Great work! The red being off a little is way better than free ac and weight reduction where you don't want it.
The door looks good, your thinking about painting the rest aren't you? Lol
Nah, no desire to dive into all that body work and sanding.
After the van, I don't think I blame you
That's it exactly! Lol! That thing broke me of ever wanting to paint a car again. Building 6 good doors from 10 junk doors was pretty intense. Gave me a new appreciation for patina.
Got a bunch done today. Hood is on, set the pinion angle on the rearend and welded the spring pads on, and replace a broken spring mount on the frame. Rearend back in tomorrow and start plumbing all the brakes.
Cosmic.............

Looks great, going to be a really unique toy! At least you won't go to an event, then wonder which red camaro in the parking lot is yours! Friend of mine has a sign in his shop, "Unique is what we seek, but bizarre is what we are"! You seem to be fully qualified for a sign like it!!!!!
That’s for sure! Not that I have anything muscle cars but I always preferred the weird and different builds.
Just about road test ready. I put all new brakes, brake lines, and shocks on the back. I got my hydraulic clutch conversion finished up and it works good. I had to get the pinion side of the driveshaft changed to a small Chrysler unjoint and should have that back Monday. Then just a few odds and ends and we can call it done.
All back together, road test successfull, and it passed inspection. Couldn’t get plates today cause the license office is closed but all I have left is hook up the beacon light and put down the floor mat that is coming Tuesday. It drives so much better!
Looks like it turned out great! With all the work you went into to get it to drive better I'm a bit worried how my 48 is going to drive. Knowing how fast you turn projects I think is safe to ask if you got it sold yet and what's on deck :) ? I like the stuff you build !
Thanks! No, I haven’t put it up for sale yet. Nothing coming up for myself but the drummer in my band just inherited his late grandpas 1977 Grand Prix and is wanting me to help him get it roadworthy again. Plus I’ve still been helping on my other buddy’s 53 Chevy.
I’d at least go with a brake upgrade on your 48. I’ve had a few 40s Mopars with stock brakes and they leave a lot to be desired.
We put power brakes on the '47 Ford at around the same time as we put power brakes on the Morris Minor.
I was commenting to a mate a while afterwards as to how much improved the braking on both cars was.
He said "Yup. That's why we used to call it the Jesus pedal."
I must've looked blank 'cos he continued "You'd put your foot on the brake pedal and start hollering 'Sweet Jesus! Help me Jesus!'"
I've kinda got that whole part in trial mode right now. I have just enough money stuck in the old brakes to try them out for awhile without a large financial loss if scrapped. If I swap a Jeep rear end in it for road speed, I think I will definitely have to do something with front disks.
That turned out nice, at first glance it just looks stock.
Got my floor mat in. Calling it done!
It all came together quite nicely. You're a master at this stuff!!
Lol! Thanks. Now if I could just get my wife to call me master.......
