3M makes some wonderful spray contact adhesive. The industrial strength really sticks.
You said that the doors would ALMOST need to be removed to install the ones you have. So why pay for another set?.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
