My 2000 Silverado has some kind of buildup on the windows. I've tried windex, green scrubbie pads, and razor blades, nothing seems to touch it. I was thinking it was either wax residue or resultant from acid rain. Any ideas?

I bought a windshield washing product from the same company that does the whitewall cleaner, I think it's westly ( or something like that) and it was the only thing to clean the inside of the windshield of my car. I tried 2 or 3 "windex" versions and they only smudged it worse.
It was like four or five bucks too.
Sounds like something may have etched your windshield, and knowing what is hard to say. Given that you've tried abrasives (which is not really a good idea on a polished glass surface) look at one of the polishing compounds that's made for glass and follow the directions for the product you buy. There's also some YouTube videos out there on cleaning up glass surfaces. This link is just "glass polishing compound" - https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...ing%20compound
if 00 fine steelwool wont get it off it is etched .
It's on all the glass. I did the removal test on the rear side window.
Might be tree sap; try some thinner, or acetone.
