I just ordered a new Edlebrock 600cfm electric choke carburator. I think I pretty much know how to install it but could I get a quick spill on the overall idea before I do it so I don't set my car on fire or anything like that? It's a 4-barrel going in place of a 2-barrel. Is there anything extra I would need to buy or do I just pop it on and hook up the hoses?

Disconecet batt undo fuel lines ,linkage&any vacum lines pull distrb. remove all manifold bolts and 4 carb bolts. Pull carb and then use large flat screw driver to "pry" manifold up to break the gasket seal.
Install in reverse then bring the #1 cylinder to TDC when droppin the distrib back in pointing to #1.
Check all fuel lines to make sure thier tight before you start it and the most common problem will be the chance that you may be 180 off on the distrib. If it back fires through the carb then you are 180 off and you will need to pull and reinstall the distrib reposition 180 degree.
one thing i always do is to use a shop vac and suck up the dirt & junk as i'm scraping the old gaskets off to keep them from goin into the motor.
hope that helps a bit its a pretty simple job.
CF- You a small block Mopar?- If so no need to remove the distributor-it's outside the Manifold.
Just did my 318 with a performer and 500cfm. Little coolant did leak from mine @ high RPMs (outside of block-none in oil) until it warmed up and the gasket swelled. After it cooled down I tightend the bolts once more and no other problems.
The carb was damn close outta the box.
Are you sure it going to bolt up to that manifold? A two barrel manifold is not likely going to accept a four barrel carb. Better check it out before you start taking stuff apart.

You DID get a 4bbl manifold, right?
Actually I just got together with a car club member yesterday who revealed to me that you have to have a 4-barrel intake manifold before you can change from a 2-barrel to a 4-barrel. But before I spoke to him about it I had previously been told that I could just drop the 4-barrel right onto the 2-barrel manifold. I went to Advance Auto Parts and they carry a 2-4 converter for like $15 bucks so that is what I am gonna do until I have enough money to buy an intake manifold. Not really a problem with using the converter other than you have to deal with more gaskets so I may just leave it that way.
Save the $15 and leave the 2bbl on it until youi have your 4bbl intake. Those adapters are garbage.

The only problem is that my 2-barrel has been partially taken apart and on top of that I don't have the time or money to spend like $200 on an intake manifold. I am about to go to a Mopar show in Mobile, Alabama and I am hoping I'll find someone that has a spare intake manifold that will fit my engine.
But until then I don't think it'll hurt anything to spend $15 bucks on an adapter.
If ya don't find anything there, check e-bay, good chance of finding it there :toocool:
