First thought are the basics. The larger wheel cylinder piston should be to the front, to the longer piece of lining shoe, the shorter lining to the rear. Double check the return springs for staying in place. Were the shoes arced to the drum profile? Were the drums measured with a proper micrometer, they shouldn't be more than .060 oversize, though some folks I know have gotten away with a little more on the backs.
