Does anyone know where I can get info on anodizing and also where (on the net) I can get an anodizing machine? I heard that you can get smaller ones for you home or garage to do things like bumpers and thing's of that sort instead of electro plating and also I have some dirt bike rims that I wan't to anodize and all so if anyone know's where to get one then please let me know. Thanks a lot in advance!

BG, unrelated question........ Are you going to stick the hat through that cowl induction hood? What are you plannin' to do for air filtration? I've been trying to figure out a clean looking way to filter the air. My EFI rail sticks up inside the Hat too far to make any kind of internal filter I'm afraid. there's gotta be a better way than the filter over the butterflies set-up???:CRY: :CRY: :CRY:
Pro i still have to get my injection unit think i'm goin with a enderle unit but to be honest i havent really given a whole lota thought yet as to the filtration,just been gettin the prices and seeing what unit i will need recently.
Far as stickin through the cowl,yeah it is deffinitly going to stick up through the cowl becuase of the overall hieght of the injection/blower but also becuase i channeled my body down over the frame. I'm not sure how far it will stick through...i'm hopin the butterflys will just be visable above the cowl so its not to much of a reason for the boys in blue to have a conversation with me.:3dSMILE:
Yup, Mines an Enderle. But if you look at the pic. the EFI rail sticks up in the hat. I had thought about making a spacer, so I couls put a flat pleated filter before the injection rail, but I dunno if i can get away with that?Quote:

Thanks a lot for the info..... Is there any machines with cheaper prices because those things are 30,000 or more. Also I didn't have time to read all of that but is some sites info or all stores?

You don't need any fancy machines if you want to do your own anodizing. Just a battery charger, some sulferic acid (just strong enough to conduct electricity), nitric acid (for cleaning), a bucket, a pot, a stove, some aluminum wire, and whatever color dye you want (even food coloring works).
First, you clean the part in nitric acid or whatever else you think will work. Then, coil up some aluminum wire in the bottom of a bucket and connect it to the postive of the battery charger. Then, fill the bucket with sulferic acid. Attach the part to be anodized to the negative electrode. It should bubble as you lower it into the bucket. Let it sit for a while, then put it in a pot full of warm water and whatever dye you want. Let it sit, and when it's about the right darkness, put it in hot water to seal up the pores in the metal.
I've never anodized, but I do use a battery charger and a bucket full of washing soda to remove rust from steel parts. It removes paint too, and leaves a very good finish for painting. Just rince it off when you take it out or it will be rusted the next day.
Are you sure that process will work 100%? Also will it hold up as strong and everything and look as good? The reason I am asking is because I am picky with my work, I don't like anything half ass and wan't it perfect and to hold because doing my rims or whatever on dirtbikes cost money to get the spokes off and then laced back up properly.
Thats why you try it out on some scrap aluminum. The process is the same as all of the shops, we just improvise with simpler tools. And, if you're having trouble with the aluminum taking up dye, it could be because you solution is too hot and causing the pores to close early.
Ok thanks man. Do you think you might be able to email me like each step and the materials needed because I don't get exactly what you meant. I do but also in some areas I don't and I would like to have something to print out to look at while I do it if you can possibly do that for me. Let me know if it's possible. Thanks a lot man.!
I typed everything I know in that post. There was a webpage I knew of a while back, but I have long since forgotten. It had to do with anodizing parts for paint ball guns. I might consider searching.
