Muncie 4 Spd Question
I have an old Muncie 4 spd that has been setting in shop
for about 25 years. I took it out of my 57 Chev because
it was jumping out of 4th gear. I think it's a 1967 or 1969
model. Just wondering if it's even worth the time and expense
to go thru this thing? Have a Saganaw 4 spd in a 76 Camaro
now and it's a piece of junk.

Judging by the cost of 4 and 5 speeds today, I'd say it's worth rebuilding.

I agree with Tech. I had one in my '68 GTO, ran it until it wore out, rebuilt it, and ran it again. It held up to a lot of added horsepower. Now where did I put that broomstick that I used to hold the loose roller bearings in place while I installed the countershaft????

I'd certainly say it's worth rebuilding; a simple, basic design, and relatively stout.

It's junk you better just send it to me. Just kidding. The value on them is still pretty high up there. It's worth it to rebuild it and keep it for sure.
