I used one of the Tune Trapper's in my '33 and have no complaints. EZ and no external power - Tune Trapper Hidden AM FM Antennas For Cars, Motorcycles, Boats, Stereos, Radios
Another old trick is to hang the antenna under the running board.
My Tune Trapper's on a glass car, behind an inside valance panel at the leading edge of the roof. As I recall, there were instructions about metal bodies, and one option was an under running board mount. You might want to read their mounting instructions before buying....
Unless you're looking primarily at AM reception an antenna is not as critical as it once was. For the Alpine I have mounted over my bench in the garage I use a thin long bladed screwdriver where the antenna would plug in and reception is adequate.
i see no reason for stereos any more. i use my phone with bluetooth .

i like to use pandora. like the idea of fine tuning a station to my likes .
I agree that I bought my last radio receiver with the '33, but in this case MaxB says he's installed a unit, and just needs the antenna.
BTW, welcome to CHR, Max! Glad you're here.
i have used these on several cars. work fine.
Thanks guys. One of the reasons I went with a radio is it has Blue tooth/ hand free capacility. this is critical in today's driving. yes it also will allow me to plug in the I-Phone. but sometimes you just want to let someone else spin the records.
Thanks for all the help. new to this site but a long time car guy with several classics.:)
thanks (repears ) i ordered the unit. 40 bucks to save a hole in the truck is a cheap remedy.
I like the idea of being able to listen to traffic updates on the radio. Especially when you're not in your usual environment. Nice advice and antenna options here guys. Thanks for the links.
I found the Dakota unit real good, even behind steel
Max, I just noticed you're in Ankeny Iowa. You're not far from me at all.
