Project Hiatus
Looks like the car projects may be going on hiatus for a bit. My wife and I have decided to put our house on the market and move closer to our jobs. Not sure if we're going to buy or build but we want a bigger piece of ground so she can have a bigger dining room and I get a bigger garage! I'll be working on the house for a few weeks to get it ready to list and once it sells we'll have to do a temporary move to a rental while we look for a new location. Fun stuff!
-
Good luck with the move, hope it all works out for you.
-
I know what you are going through, several of my projects have been on hold for more than a year for the same reason.:( Prepping the house for sale and prepping for the move.

Good luck with all the ins and outs of house selling/buying,falcon.. Hope you find what you are looking for,as well..

watching the news the other night .........they said this really expensive house was for sale........and it had a 100 car garage. I looked at the wife and yelled....SOLD!!!..........she said ..yeah right.................oh well we can dream.
-
Been there done that, as I suspect many other members here have. I remember moving the car stuff; shop full of tools, welders, 6 or 7 non-running project cars, truck loads of parts and metal etc etc. About half way thru I can remember thinking why didn't I take up golf, model car building, fishing or anything that only takes up about a closet worth of space.:LOL:

Good luck with the house shopping. I'm not sure if your wife is aware of the proportions that must be observed for optimal aesthetics between the size of the garage and size of the house, but at a minimum it should be 1:1. ;)
-
whoops dont let my bride see this. i built 2:1 . 2k house 4k shop .
-
Shine, your example is a more "optimal" configuration. Highly recommended.. :D

Moving??? What a terrible thought, my condolences!!!!! Moved into this place 15 or so years ago, since then I've sold the shop and put stuff in storage here and a couple other places... Don't think I'd consider moving it again, maybe just an auction and start over!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:

Good Luck with 'ol Hiatus. It's pretty obvious that "most" of us have been there so we can definitely relate. The next time I move will either be to the Rest Home or the Urn.

My wife is beginning to question my sanity:HMMM:, I bought a Delta Rockwell unisaw Saturday, left it on the trailer to take to Idaho Thursday, along with more stuff to put into storage:rolleyes:. Did the same thing a month ago. Bought a CutterMaster tool and cutter grinder and left it in the back of the truck to take to the Idaho storage unit:eek:;).

i closed a 12k ft shop and moved to the 1200 ft shop at the lake then to the 4k shop at the farm. still full of crap. i swear this stuff breeds at night while i sleep . but there is a major throw the hell away coming this winter. building a barn for anything not car related !

Yeah, I have about 15 years left to work so this will definitely be our last move. The family's getting bigger so she wants the bigger dining room. Cleaning out the shop and relocating it does not sound fun at all but I've got her talked into going from my current 30x40 to one about 1 and 1/2 times bigger. Looking forward to the end result but not so much the process.

Good luck with it, and I as well hope you guys find what you're looking for. My wife and I are looking to buy this spring. We're trying to find an acerage with a decent house and a building. It's not going all that well. It will be nice to have our house and my shop all in one area for a change.
