Automatic Shifter

I have a Chevy TH 350 automatic transmission.

I was to shange out the floor shifter.

Can I use ANY floor shifter, regardless of the brand or model?

It seems logical that because my transmission is cable operated,that any floor shifter should work.

Thoughts anyone?

Part 2---I still need someone who can tell me where to hook up my gauges.

Also, where is the best place to get a speedometer cable for my Equus speedometer.

Any shifter that is made to fit a 350 automatic will work. As for the cable, I'd Google Equus Gauges and call the company, they'll probably need to know the length of the cable, too.

Detent gate spacing is key=must be for th350. First floor shiter for an auto tranny I ever had was home made by me with a gate to fit an spring loaded shift stick to hold it in the gate. that was back in late 1950s. Today there are a lot nicely done,for between $100 n $200

I have the B & M Megashifter on the TH350 in my 46. It works great. It has full up and downshift ratchet action. Hit it as hard as you want and it only moves one gear.

i use the bm unimatic shifter a lot. it is a detent shifter and cable operated.

What are you doing for the neutral safety and back up lite switches? Make sure to include these as part of your requirements.

I loved the B&M Quick Silver shifter in my previous street rod. It looked and functioned great. I wish I could use it in my present rod but with the design of the interior I cannot.
