Rear end
Hi I have a 8 inch ford rear end in a ranchero that I to turn into posi unit. How would I do this with out breaking the bank?Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.-Steve earle

A new 8" positrac carrier is going to run you around $600 or more with the ride, and you'll still have a relatively weak 8" unit. Link to Summit, for example - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/yg...view/make/ford
You might be money ahead if you can find a positrac 8.8" or 9" with track that's close to what you have and change out the mounts to fit your Ranchero.Roger

61.25" 1957-1972 Ford F-100 pickup w/9" Trac-Lok
61.25" 1960-1964 Ford full size w/9" Trac-Lok
61.25" 1971-1973 Mustang w/9" Trac-Lok
61.25" 1967-1973 Torino, Ranchero, Fairlane w/9" Trac-Lok
Or you could search for a...
58.00" 1966-1977 Bronco 9" Trac-Lok.....and use wheels with a 1.5" shorter backspace.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
