What do you mean "in"? Are you suggesting mixxing in the two products? I don't think that'll work

or,

Did you mean to say "ON" as a top coat? That should work just fine after the POR 15 has cured.

Welcome to CHR, Hot55! I actually talked to the product support people at Rustoleum several months ago when I was using their industrial flat black top coat on metal deck railings. I had an issue with some metal being galvanized and some clean, and a lot of primers exclude galvanized coatings. What they recommended to me is that I 1) ensure that the base/primer is totally cured (they say minimum 5 to 7 days at warm temperatures), and 2) I apply a test coat to a small area to ensure product compatibility. They said you will know very quickly if there's a problem, as the top coat will either bead up like water on wax, or the base coat will wrinkle/bubble. They told me that they didn't foresee any problem, since the POR15 is non porous, but they don't test their products on competitors primers/coatings. Like Mike said, it should be fine, but it would be worth checking a small area to prove it.

I used POR15 on the M/C of my nomad, put it on heavy and let it flow out and it looks better than power coat…. won't peel off if brake fluid gets on it… I used black.. Top coating it should work but you may have to scuff it some to get the paint to bite and hold on…

POR doesn't typically play nice with other paints, I've had it peel off in sheets. I believe POR now makes an adhesion promoter for applications like you describe, or apply your topcoat before the POR totally cures, to give it some chemical adhesion. Check with POR website or tech line to be sure, they should be able to give you the straight skinny..

POR15 has the info on their website or you can call their tech line. Been a few years since I used it but when I built the coupes chassis seems they wanted "their" primer applied before the POR15 cured, then topcoat (theirs) after it all dries. I shot the por15 and then shot 2k primer over that while the POR15 was still tacky. I then scuffed and shot 2001 g.m. pewter base/clear over it. That was a good 5-7 years ago and it has never peeled or lifted. Buuuuttttttt then again the car is not finished and has not been subjected to the elements yet.

i worked at two shops were we used por15 for rusty stuff great for old rusty stuff and sticks ok to rusty parts but better to skin . after the por sets up we top coated it with many types of paints it.s the paint thinners that can play hell with paints that have cured the hotter the thinner better chance of it lifting a old or new substrates .i do not think you will run in to that with rustoleum as for a thinner is very weak like mineral spirits and enamel base paint so sand the por.s and top coat should be ok
