Interchange?
Hi all,
I am the new owner of a '57 Chevy & am looking for a new radiator(stock V8). Is there another GM line that has the same radiator - trying to increase my search limits. As the price seems to go up if it is for a popular model?
Take Care

55 to57 rads are the same, as you probably know....I bought one at a swap meet for $50 last year. They are quite common.
If you can't find one, do you have an old one to get recored?
I have a spare, that has a leak in the bottom tank (Probably needs recored), but I am in Canada, near Toronto.Home Handyman Forum

Poncho62, excellent, thanks for the info.... what does a re-core cost? another 50 or so?? Also, I wonder if it can be repaired? It only has a 1/4" split at the top that spits when it reaches temp....
Thanks, Macklo

You can easilly get that soldered at a rad shop. if you can't do it yourself.
To recore a rad costs about $200. They take it apart and replace the finned area in the centre.Home Handyman Forum

Awesome! I am a jeweler but, honestly don't wan to take the chance with brass - It acts differently than precious metals. Thanks again!

Keep in mind if you do buy a different one and if you want to keep it completely stock, the date code on the radiator will be an issue. You could probably get away with a late 56 model (K, L, or M) to pass for a "quick glance" authenticity. If you are going to Hot Rod it, I imagine the date code issue won't matter much to you. Good luck with the '57
Cheers,
