I figure you spend 250 to 600 for the ring & pinion set. Another 100 for the "rebuild" kit, comes with shims, gaskets, crush sleeve, etc.
The tools, a couple of them are specific and only serve the 1 purpose. A dial indicator can be had for under a hundred and has other uses around a car.
You should be able to get a "take-out" from a wrecking yard for 250..??? to 500 ??? and be done with it! Do some internet searches on how to rebuild a ford 9". It's not a terrible job, but do it wrong and you'll hear it for the rest of your days with that ride!
