All about gauges
I've got a 41 Chevy Pickup on a 92 Nissan frame w/ the Nissan Engine. I was thinking about buyin a 12 volt version of the old Chevy gauge set, but then I figured there would be to many other probs.
Wrong speedometer signal (even if it fits), fuel, temp, pressure, etc... would all be different settings.
So my new line of thought is get a set of custom gauges, then work them into the old dash.
1. What are the necc. gauges. The vehicle will have a rather large stereo, it's not for huge speed. But it is a 5 speed.
Speedometer, Tachometer, Oil Pressure, H20 Temp, Fuel Level, Voltmeter and/or ampmeter.
Those are most of the ones I could think off off hand. Which do you think I really need?
2. Anyone know some cheaper/affordable brands out there? I figure I'll need an electronic Speedometer that uses a magnet on the rotor area to know how fast the car is going. Tach hooks to the - terminal of the coil. I have no idea how universal the other gauges are, or how the fuel gauge would read accurately. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well as far as I know you will have to use senders from the company that makes the gauges..... I think most of the big companies have different fuel gauges for different makes of cars

What specs would I be asking for? I have no desire to use Nissan gauges. Would I just be asking about voltage range for certain sensors or what?
