welding jacket and boot covers

I'd buy something that ships from a US location as opposed to Greece, but that's just me. This Hobart is a good jacket Amazon.com: Hobart 770486 Leather Welding Jacket - XL: Home Improvement . I wouldn't be overly concerned with boot covers, provided you're wearing leather boots vs tennies. I doubt I'd ever take time to put boot covers on, based on the fact that I probably haven't donned the leather welding jacket more than two or three times in the three or four years I've had it.... A buddy who came out to weld on the underside of his Jeep was sure glad I had it, though....
Yep for over head welding they are great, but very heavy. I have a Green fire retardent canves jacket I ware for overhead work.. Normaly just wear a tee shirt (many have holes from burns)
Yep, not only heavy, but HOT, too! I like a long sleeved tee, but between welding sparks and the spark trail from a cutoff wheel hitting the belt line they don't stay looking very nice for too long.... Welding for any length of time can give the equivalent of a nice sun burn to uncovered forearms, too.Quote:

Something like this Miller jacket is probably a lot more practical for me than the heavy leather - http://www.bonanza.com/listingshttp:...FSemPAodvicAPQ but I've already got the leather.....
Like Charlie I prefer a canvas jacket. Mine has a Carhart label on it!
