Need wiring help for a 3 wire 1973 chevy van I know the big one goes to the battery pos...... but the 2 small ones in the plug I'm not sure where they go from the alt..... And do they get 12v at any time

It said that pin #3 went to an idot light? What if I don't have an idiot light, would it be going to my voltmeter instead? Is it something that you don't need to wire if you don't want to?
About the amp guage, I don't think it wires up to the idiot light. An ammeter would be wired in series with the main power wire.

The M.A.D. Electrical folks have a very down to earth approach to automotive wiring. I am in the process of redoing my hot rod using their kits and designs. Once completed I think all my electrics will show improved performance. It's worth a look

That M.A.D. site has to be the best wiring site I have ever been to. Good thing they don't charge, no pun intended, for just reading. The only problem is now I feel I have to re-wire my charging system.:CRY: Thanks for the link Pat.
