My old harmonic balancer is fine, but rusty. I'd like to spray it black, but was wondering if anyone has an easy way to paint the markings white, and the balancer black? They are so fine right now it's hard to see them.

Some white or yellow model car paint and a very fine brush works good.
I know this sound funny - but it works. Paint the balancer and let it dry real well. Then take a white crayola and rub it across the timing mark. Use a lot of pressure to make sure it gets in all the little lines. Then rub hard and fast with a soft rag to buff away the residual. You end up with nice bright lines and numbers that will last for years. When it gets hard to read, it's easy to once again use the crayola and freshen the marks. I've done this for years and had great success. Works especially well against a black balancer - your timing light will really pop out..
i mark just the one line with white appliance paint has bush in cap . as for a fully degree damper you can do what Glen said i done the same thing with white paint then go over it with a dry rag then when almost dry go over it with a damp clean rag with thinner on it. but this was done on black oxide damper like ATI and Fuildamper .TCI if you want to get fancy paint damper thats fully degreed paint black with four coats of black paint then shoot white paint wipe clean with a 3M rubber squeegee off let dry wet sand out with 1000 then clear
Thanks for the tips everyone. All great ideas.
Go to you local Home Depot or Lowes and get a paint pen. They come in all colors including white.
Pat will spraying paint mess up the weight balance of the balancer?
In a word, no.
Thanks tech!
